The Goebel Company opened its doors over a century ago in 1871 at the foot of the Coburg Castle in Oeslau, Germany. The first items produced were slates, slate pencils and marbles.
It was the charming designs of Sister Innocentia Hummel in 1935 that helped the company gain international recognition. The "M. I. Hummel" signature on the base of each of figurine is one of two marks of authenticity. The other definitive identifier is the Goebel stamp on the underside of the figurine - the official Goebel trademark. These two marks of authenticity are your assurance of the continuing excellence and artistry of Goebel.
